Bento

Our dataset catalog system uses Bento technology. It was created by the Canadian Center for Computational Genomics (C3G) in Montreal.

Bento is a set of free and open source microservices used to build data-driven platforms. By adhering to existing and planned standardized APIs, it facilitates interactions between different global omics science communities. Its reusable and interoperable components reduce the complexity and expense of building data distribution portals.

Although Bento was developed as a web platform to explore and share human clinical and omics data, it will be adapted to accommodate non-human omics data from a wide variety of biological species from basic and applied research projects.
